A rare NYC subway plaque tagged with a "Radiant Baby" by Keith
Haring will be offered for sale by the Crait-Muller auction group on April 28,
2017 in Paris.
This historical plaque was withdrawn with others in 2009, including two bearing
Haring's similar tags, from the Bowery station by the NYC authorities to be replaced by
new ones and later recovered by Billy Leroy who was running an antique shop nearby
before he sold them to amateurs, including the famed street artist Shepard
Fairey.
Keith Haring started to make drawings in the NYC subway in 1982 on
advertising posters and on some plaques as this one on which he produced his iconic "Radiant Baby" around 1983-1984. The third plaque was sold
on line by the Julien auction house in october 2016 for 32500 USD.
