Bridge) from 1902 brought $54.5 million, making it the second-highest
auction price for any work by the artist after The Scream and helping propel Sotheby's Impressionist & Modern Art Evening sale
total to $157.7 million on November 14 2016 in New York.
It was also a strong night for Pablo Picasso,
whose large-scale painting Le
Peintre et son modèle sold
for $12.9 million, while his Tête
de femme sold for $8.5 million, leading the evening's selection of
sculpture.
Maurice de Vlaminck's Fauve landscape Le Verger sold for $7.6 million and László
Moholy-Nagy's EM 1 Telephonbild sold
for $6.1 million, a new record for the artist at auction while a vase of
flowers (Vase aux Glaieuls) by Van Gogh fetched $ 5,86 million and and a still life by Marc Chagall went for $ 4,73
