SOTHEBY'S CONTEMPORARY ART SALES FARED WELL

Sotheby's Contemporary Art sales held during the first week in April achieved outstanding performance totaling HK$470 million/ US$60.2 million, a 50% increase from Autumn 2016 with 93% sell-through by lots.

Western Contemporary Art offered for the first time at Sotheby's Hong Kong Evening Sale performed well. Andy Warhol's Mao, top lot of the evening – was sold to an Asian collector for HK$98,537,500/ US$12,633,013, setting a new record for any Western Contemporary art sold at auction in Asia.
