A man and his wife, both unemployed, found 82 gold Gaul coins struck between the 1st and 2nd Century A.D. while taking their dog out for a walk along the river l'Huisne, in the French western town of Le Mans. They first saw something shining among herbs and on seeing it was a gold coin they started digging all around. They finally unearthed an impressive hoard of coins which according to museum experts were struck by the Aulerques-Cenomans tribe. The find was described as exceptional as only not more than 100 coins are so far known to exist. It was estimated at 2,5 millions francs (US $ 420,000) half of which will be given to the lucky couple.
